Plantation Park Markets are held every first and third Sunday of the month with local stallholders bringing their products and produces for you to browse and buy. For everybody not knowing this area, the Plantation Park is next to the Bruce Highway when you are leaving Ayr towards Home Hill. ( 11-15 Kennedy Street, Ayr QLD 4807 )

Since living in the Burdekin since 2014 visiting the Plantation Park Market was always on my list, but I never made it. Not being a big market, it still got a lot of things to see, browse and buy. Please support local and come around to visit some of these adorable animals below.

The Burdekin Pet rescue at the Plantation Park

Burdekin Pet Rescue Inc is a group of local Burdekin citizens. They started in October 2015. The main goal is to prevent the euthanasia of abandoned animals that are suitable to rehome. Animals dumped in the pound, some saved, some put down due to no fault of their own, are saved by these wonderful volunteers, foster carers and adopters.
All animals are desexed, microchipped, registered and vet treated. To achieve this they make the adoption fee a lot cheaper than normal and fundraise to subsidise the rest of the vets’ fees.

Last year I helped to raise funds for the Burdekin Pet Rescue by selling sausage sizzlers, but time flew when I started working full time and I never got around to help again. To be honest, it made me feel bad, but sometimes I just have to admit, that I can’t do everything at once.

I got in contact again this year to offer my help taking photos. That’s what I did on Sunday at the Plantation Park Markets. Above are some of the photos I took of this active and loving 4 legged angles. Being a big animal lover myself, I had a ball. For next time though, I know not to get too close to a dog’s quick tongue. While I don’t mind being shown some slimy love, cleaning a camera lens after being licked is not an easy task. I was happy it only came close this time.

I hope to help out again by taking pictures for the Burdekin Pet Rescue and hopefully help those amazing dogs and cats to find a new permanent home.
